This session will discuss how to leverage and extend the power of BIM with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support all phases of the FM mission. By importing and aggregating in to GIS the geometries and tabular data of the BIM(s) require to accurately represent a project (or portfolio), the standard knowledge and representational accuracy of BIM can be leveraged, extended and connected in geographic space to other relevant site, neighborhood, municipal and regional data. GIS can help those who own, operate or manage facilities achieve new levels of efficiency and find success in meeting their stewardship, sustainability and saving goals. This can be achieved by harnessing the power of the relational database management system underlying GIS, in combination with the ability to analyze related geospatial information, as well as through the use of geoprocessing tools such as pattern analysis, cluster recognition, line of sight, etc.
