By now you know the basic premises of BIM. You have a BIM-ready design team assembled and you’re all collaborating on the same model, and you’re seeing the results. But what about those doors, windows or ducts? A critical component of the Building Information Modeling process is the integration of manufacturers into the mix. An increasing number of manufacturers are providing Revit models of their products so that design teams can specify product details at the beginning of the process, allowing them to deliver even more complete and accurate BIM models and allowing manufacturers to engage in BIM process. In this session, we’ll explore learn what cutting-edge manufacturers are doing to meet the demand for manufacturing content for BIM, and where designers can find these resources today. We’ll also discuss best practices for starting - and maintaining - a product library, and how manufacturing firms who wants to be included in the BIM mix can get started right away.
