There is a treasure trove of information about our facilities in repositories of CAD and BIM data prepared to support the design and construction of our built environment. Much of this information could be very valuable to those responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing our facilities but it is often stored in ways that make it difficult for facility managers to access easily. GIS can serve as a powerful integration platform to help unlock this information and make it available through intuitive applications that provide easy access and valuable analytics. We will discuss and demonstrate some proven approaches to driving more value from these important data sources.
