S407: Life-Cycle Costing for Sustainable Buildings: Theory and Practice

Speakers

Roger Kurath, Owner, Designs21

Stephan Tanner, AIA, Principal, Intep LLC, Intep, LLC

The true costs of a building can only be determined through integral life-cycle costing. This seminar provides an overview on the benefits of life-cycle costing over the traditional narrow focus on the payback period of building components. You will learn what key cost factors are and how to measure them. In a second part, you will be presented concrete examples how to reduce life-cycle costs using measures such as pre-fab construction and highly efficient building components.
