Architects, engineers, policymakers and the public have become enamored with the concept of Net Zero Energy Buildings. However, many questions remain on how to cost-effectively transform the building industry to have all new buildings be net zero energy. Executive orders and legislation already have government buildings on a path to net-zero by 2030. Technologies, policies and practices must be in place to facilitate the shifts necessary to achieve these goals. This session will feature insight from a recent Building Design + Construction white paper on the path to net zero energy buildings including finding a common definition, implementing favorable policies, shifting existing norms, and sharing case studies.
