T2T3: T2T3: Integrating Autodesk Revit with the COBie Process for BIM based Handover Part 1
Integrating Autodesk Revit with the COBie Process for BIM based Handover Part 1
COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange), is an emerging standard and specification developed by a number of United States public agencies to improve the handover process to building owner-operators. COBie is an information exchange specification for the life-cycle capture and delivery of information needed by facility managers. COBie based data can be viewed in design, construction, and maintenance software as well as in simple spreadsheets. This versatility allows COBie to be used on all projects regardless of size and technological sophistication.
Autodesk’s Revit is one of the leading commercially available software applications for the authoring of Building Information Models commonly referred to as BIM.
Many government and commercial building owners (in addition to requiring BIM based deliverables) are now asking that these BIM models be delivered with \“intelligent objects\” that enable COBie based information exchanges. These sessions presented by Autodesk will de-mystify the process of creating COBie enabled BIM models with Autodesk Revit. We will discuss and demonstrate a COTS (commercially-available-off-the- shelf) process for using Autodesk Revit software to create COBie based deliverables.
Part 1: Conceptual Discussion of mapping the COBie format and process into Autodesk Revit
