Using case studies, we demonstrate information provided at the schematic phase to guide the design of sustainable projects. Issues include building orientation, site placement, use of shading devices and buildings shading each other. Both energy and cost impacts will be demonstrated, using different BIM systems to compile data.  Addressing life-cycle cost at the schematic phase will also be discussed.
