Comprehensive Approaches to Technology Driven Project Delivery

Building Information Modeling and Virtual Construction methods are being implemented by practice in parallel with a broader reconsideration of project delivery models and the roles of team members within the scope of overall project delivery. In the context of the current construction industry economics, clients are demanding increased value from services provided by project teams. Project information management, coupled with responsiveness to new services opportunities enabled by technology, and in the context of alternative models of project delivery, can provide new opportunities for design and construction firms in an evolving landscape of professional services.

This presentation will consider technology driven project execution techniques within the larger context of conventional and emerging project delivery models. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of information technology as an overarching value in IPD and other emerging project delivery mechanisms, and on identifying and providing new owner oriented value within – and outside of – the confines of conventional consulting services. Examples will demonstrate results focusing on project financial, operational and environmental performance optimization, and project controls including risk management and mitigation.
